Assistance Requested - Hospital Admission for Delivery

Issue

During the fourth week of April, the period when the city of Chennai was reeling under the complete lockdown due to pandemic Covid-19. Shops are closed, restriction in movements due to Rule 144, public transports are off-road and the situation is grim.

But, nature has its own priorities and operates in its own way. Pregnancy being a natural process matures irrespective of external happenings and changes.

So, the pregnant woman completed her full term and she has begun to feel labour pain.

Her loving husband and concerned in-laws tried their best to admit her in a hospital near to their location. The patient was suggested to visit a government hospital or a designated hospital with facilities for Covid treatment.

That is when, R. Lakshminarayan, the founder of LN HealthCare received a frantic call from the husband of the pregnant woman. Through some referral, he explained his situation calmly and asked Lakshminarayan whether he could help them get admitted to a hospital to attend to his wife's labour.

Having understood the enormity of the situation, Lakshminarayanan swung into action and spoke to a few hospitals to make a special request.

Being in the industry with over 25+ years, he has developed enduring professional relationships with several doctors and hospitals, he was quickly able to crack bubble and got a confirmation of appointment from a hospital in Chennai.

As doing Covid test is a pre-requisite for admission, Lakshminarayanan spoke to his radiology team arranged for a home-based COVID test conducted for the pregnant woman. He sent the team quickly in a complete PPE kit. The team collected samples and sent the results online.

After getting the confirmation that the patient was Covid-negative, Lakshminarayan asked the couple to visit the XYZ hospital at around 11pm for their delivery. It was a big relief to the couple. Her husband confirmed when her wife was admitted to the hospital.

Result

Mr Lakshminarayan, founder of LN HealthCare received a call at 6.30am in the morning. Patient's husband was holding at the other end. He happily conveyed that he has become the father of a baby girl and his wife is doing fine. She had a normal delivery.

The timely action by LN HealthCare helped a pregnant woman deliver a baby girl comfortably.
So, it was a happy ending to a horror story.
